What Is Turmeric Spice?

Turmeric is packed with flavor and nutrients and can be found in SugarRoti’s gourmet spice blends. Turmeric is a yellow powder that comes from the root of the turmeric plant in the ginger family. It's one of the most common spices used in Indian cooking, and it has been used as a medicinal herb for thousands of years. Turmeric has natural anti-fungal and anti-bacterial benefits.

What Potential Health Benefits Come From Turmeric Spice?

Turmeric is known for its powerful anti-inflammatory properties, which can help relieve pain, reduce swelling and protect against disease.

Research suggests that turmeric may assist in preventing Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia by clearing away various plaques that can lead to heart attacks and strokes. While this isn’t scientifically proven if anything can help with these diseases, it is worth trying!

It may also reduce symptoms of depression by increasing serotonin levels in the brain. Giving an extra boost of balance and overall well-being.

Turmeric may also improve high cholesterol levels because it is said to help lower triglycerides while increasing HDL, otherwise known as good cholesterol levels. The health benefits of turmeric are endless.

“That’s the Indian in me – you must put spices on everything. As a kid, whenever we got sick, my mom would take milk and put turmeric in it. That was our medicine. That was the cure-all. Some people turn to Robitussin.” – Aasif Mandvi
